Books Will Change You

There is so much to be said for the value of books. They really are among the greatest treasures we will ever enjoy in life. They belong with:

Love

Health

Nature

Freedom

Our Five Senses

Beauty

Music

Books are pure magic. They provide travel to spaces, places and times we would miss without them and their enchantment. Books reach out a hand to us wherever we are, and pull us up and out and over, to another place, sometimes so suddenly that our breath catches.

How did I come to be here? To believe this? To see it this way? Suddenly a book linked it’s hand with mine and showed me a different path than I’d been on before.

Once on the new path, we may never remember which path precisely brought us to this new place of thought, but we seldom forget that the new place we’ve discovered exists.

It’s hard to not think about a penguin in a bowtie after someone calls it to your attention. Books call so many things to our attention, and then those ideas take up their tiny picket signs in our minds and remind us, at appropriate and inappropriate moments, that we saw…we heard…we now believe.

Books will change you.

I believe books do change you!! There are so many books i have read that I may not remember which book said what but I do remember bits and pieces of books that have changed me and how I look at things, love, health, life etc. I am also a person that reads several books at a time depending on mood or the book. I have just started when women were birds, I am reading the life story of a woman who moved to a ranch, I am reading several Native American books, etc. I love books I really love books filled with quotes. Thanks for the blog today!!

Books are like food. You have your popcorn: tasty, light, airy, perfecrt for a snack but of little nutritional value. Then you have your fruits: sweet, some good stuff in it to help you grow, gives you a quick “sugar” burst. Then you have your veggies: good nutrition and sticks with you a bit longer than fruit. And finally your meats: thick, hearty and really sticks to you. And each genre of books has the full range of popcorn, fruit, veggie and meats. But sometimes you need to have popcorn now to enjoy a steak later.

My favorite book quote is from To Kill A Mockingbird. Scout said “I never loved to read. One does not love breathing.”
